To start, warm up with a few basic postures, such as forward bends or sun salutations. Lie on your back and bend both knees in towards your body, take hold of your ankles or heels. Draw the knees down towards the floor below your armpits. Raise your head from the floor, grip your outer heels and pull your shoulders in one at a time so that your knees come over the shoulders. Rock forwards and backwards to ease into the position. Cross your ankles so that the calves create a cushion behind your head. Pause and breathe here. Release your arms and repeat with your legs crossed the opposite way.
