  • Radha Raman Temple Vrindavan History

Radha Raman temple was founded over 500 years ago by Gopala Bhatta Gosvami when he was 30. After the demise of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Gopala Bhatta Gosvami felt detachment from the lord so that Lord Krishna appeared in the dream to reduce his grief. He told Gopala Bhatta to travel to Nepal to get blessings. The Radha Raman Mandir is devoted to Lord Krishna, who is worshipped here as Radha Raman.

Radha Raman means “The one who pleases Radha”. Gopala Bhatta Gosvami took a sacred bath on the Kali-Gandaki River in Nepal. Gopala Bhatta Gosvami found twelve Shaligrama Shilas while taking a dip in the holy water. He wanted to see and worship Lord Krishna in human form. He prayed to the deity to fulfil his desire. After seeing his pure devotion, one of the twelve holograms turned into a deity of Radha Raman, he performed rituals and sometime later, eleven shilas and a Deity remained.
