Driver flees after crashing into building in Calumet Heights

CHICAGO — Police say no injuries were reported on Saturday night after a car crashed into a daycare building on the South Side.

According to Chicago police, the crash happened just before 10:30 p.m. in the 8800 block of South Stony Island Avenue in Calumet Heights.

Officers say a person in a sedan was driving in the area when they crashed into the building.

Following the crash, the driver fled the scene. Police did not say if they fled on foot or in the crashed car.

Authorities say it is currently unclear what led to the crash and no arrests have been made.

An investigation into the incident is now underway.
