EXCLUSIVE: Chris Coy (Lawmen: Bass Reeves) has been tapped for a series regular role on Netflix‘s drama Black Rabbit, as well as a supporting role in David Robert Mitchell’s Warner Bros film Flowervale Street.
In the former project, Coy will play Babbitt, a low-level bookie. Details as to his Flowervale part and the film’s plot remain under wraps.
Starring Jason Bateman and Jude Law, Black Rabbit is a limited series centering on some serious sibling drama: When the owner of a New York City hotspot (Law) allows his turbulent brother (Bateman) back in his life, he opens the door to escalating dangers that threaten to bring down everything he’s built. As previously announced, Cleopatra Coleman, Amaka Okafor, Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù and Dagmara Dominczyk will also star in the one-hour drama created and written by Zach Baylin and Kate Susman, which is based on an original idea.
In addition to starring and directing the first two episodes, Bateman exec produces alongside Michael Costigan for Aggregate Films. Other EPs include Law and Ben Jackson for Riff Raff Entertainment; Baylin and Susman for Youngblood Pictures; Andrew Hinderaker, who will serve as co-showrunner alongside Baylin and Susman; Zac Frognowski, Justin Levy, David Bernon and Erica Kay.
Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor star in Flowervale Street, which has only been described as an IMAX “thrill-ride” from Warner Bros. Pictures and Bad Robot. Additional previously announced cast includes Maisy Stella, Christian Convery, Jordan Alexa Davis and P.J. Byrne.
Mitchell is directing from his script, also producing alongside J.J. Abrams and Hannah Minghella for Bad Robot, Jackson Pictures’ Matt Jackson, and Tommy Harper. Jake Weiner and Chris Bender of Good Fear Content are serving as executive producers, with Sheila Walcott and Zach Hamby overseeing the project for Warner Bros Motion Picture Group. Pic is slated for release on May 16, 2025.
Most recently starring opposite Zoe Saldana in The Absence of Eden, a border control drama released earlier this month, as well as Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ series Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Coy’s other past credits on the TV side include Amazon’s The Peripheral and AMC’s Women of the Movement, as well as HBO’s The Deuce and True Blood, to name just a few. In film, other notable credits include the Tribeca prize winner Cowboys, Neon’s The Killing of Two Lovers, Jason Reitman’s The Front Runner, Kathryn Bigelow’s civil rights drama Detroit, and Ed Zwick’s Trial by Fire.
