The Tawny

Staffordshire, England

9
Telegraph expert rating

The Tawny provides a bucolic retreat that feels a world away from the action of Alton Towers but is in fact just a 23-minute drive from the park. The hotel is made up of several buildings, which are scattered across a historic estate, home to woodland, lakes and follies, spanning 70 acres of the Staffordshire countryside. Enchanted Village Woodland Lodges and Treehouses

Alton Towers, Staffordshire, England

7
Telegraph expert rating

The Enchanted Village provides an outdoorsy alternative to Alton Towers’ other on-site hotels. This village-like stay consists of wooden lodges and luxury treehouses (some reached by rope bridges), with toadstools, crooked roofs and fairy doors giving it all a fairytale, whimsical feel. The lodges are grouped into clusters and each cluster has a play area. The village is further from the park’s monorail than other on-site hotels but this does mean it’s surrounded by woodland for children to run around. The hub of the Enchanted Village is the Crooked Spoon restaurant, which also has evening entertainment.
