A Louisiana father of two died Tuesday following a brutal bar fight over the weekend, with new details from an autopsy report suggesting the death was a result of blunt force trauma to the head.

Devin Michael Repath, 26, of Westwego, La., got into a “fist fighting incident” around 1:30 a.m. at a popular bar in Baton Rouge, when he was knocked unconscious and taken to the local hospital, according to a Facebook post from the Baton Rouge Police Department.

He was pronounced dead from his injuries on Tuesday morning.

The autopsy report from the East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office ruled the manner of death a homicide, according to local CBS affiliate WAFB.

The incident reportedly occurred Saturday night during a surprise bachelor party that Repath helped organize for one of his childhood friends.

One witness, who said he tried to stop the brawl, described the scene to NOLA.com as “savage fighting,” and added that Repath’s attacker appeared “deranged.”

“You ever see somebody and they look like they have demons in them? He had anger in his eyes, and he was causing trouble,” the witness said.

No arrests were made following the altercation Saturday, but Baton Rouge Police spokesman Lt. L’Jean McKneely said an investigation is ongoing.

Law enforcement is currently reviewing security footage from the bar and is working to identify the people involved in the fight.

In the meantime, a GoFundMe page has been set up for Repath’s family, and has already generated more than $55,000 in donations.

The page, which shows his wife Sheylli Pantoja and his two sons, Melo and Liam, was created “to alleviate any financial burdens that may arise now and in the future, enabling them to focus on healing and preserving Devin’s memory.”
