MEMPHIS, Tennessee — The University of Houston men’s basketball team is set to face Texas A&M in a highly anticipated second-round matchup on Sunday night.
Sunday’s game is the second meeting this season between the two teams. The Cougars won the previous matchup in a 70-66 victory over the Aggies at the Toyota Center on Dec. 16, 2023. Houston is 17-4 against the Big 12, and Texas A&M is 11-10 against the SEC.
The Cougars’ record in Big 12 games is 17-4, and their record is 14-0 against non-conference opponents. Houston has a 1-1 record in games decided by less than four points.
The Aggies are 11-10 against SEC teams. Texas A&M has a 1-4 record in games decided by less than four points.
Houston averages 73.4 points per game, 2.2 more points than the 71.2 points Texas A&M allows. Texas A&M has shot at a 40.2% rate from the field this season, 2.4 percentage points greater than the 37.8% shooting opponents of Houston have averaged.
