Officials say they think the student was responsible for a series of incidents at the school.

Brookline police believe they have identified a student responsible for a series of incidents at the town’s high school, including a reported indecent assault and battery last week.

“We are currently investigating a series of incidents reported by staff at Brookline High School, which appear to be related to the indecent assault and battery reported to our department last week,” Brookline police Deputy Superintendent Paul Campbell noted in a statement to Boston.com.

“We believe we have identified the student responsible for these crimes and will continue to collaborate with Brookline High School and the families affected,” the statement continued. “In order to protect student confidentiality, we have no further comment at this time.”

On Sept. 16, a Brookline High School student alerted school officials that a man had inappropriately touched her while she was walking in between school buildings on Tappan Street, an initial statement noted. School staff reported the incident to Brookline police.
