A pursuit on the 101 Freeway came to a fiery end early Monday morning.

CHP confirmed that officers from the Central Station began pursuing the suspect at 110 Freeway interchange at 12:36 a.m.

Around six minutes later, the car pulled over on the northbound 101 near Laurel Canyon Boulevard; shortly after, CHP reported smoke coming from the vehicle before it caught fire.

Footage obtained by KTLA shows the vehicle, described by CHP as a 4-door Mitsubishi Mirage, showing the car completely engulfed on the shoulder of the freeway as firefighters attempted to control the flames.

The vehicle also lost a tire during the chase.

The unidentified occupant was taken out of the vehicle and arrested, CHP said.

It is not known why the pursuit was initiated.
