A young patient at Massachusetts General Hospital got a big surprise from his favorite superhero on Friday.

Star Ryan Reynolds paid a visit to eight-year-old cancer patient Nash, in an interaction captured on video by Mass General for Children.

The meeting was set up by Reynolds and Nash’s mother, Angie Poirier, she said on social media. She said she sent the “Deadpool” actor a picture of Nash in his radiation mask, which he decorated to look like the superhero. Poirier said Reynolds wanted to meet Nash, and arranged the surprise for him.

In the video, Reynolds walks into the room, introduces himself, and says he has some presents for an amazed Nash, whose jaw is agape. Nash showed the actor his decorated radiation mask, to which Reynolds asked for a picture of the two of them with the mask.

“Everything you’re going through, that is a lot for an eight-year-old-kid to shoulder,” Reynolds told Nash in the video. “I hope you know that. That is serious stuff.”

Later in the video, Reynolds called his “Deadpool and Wolverine” co-star Hugh Jackman to also say hello to Nash.

“It is so nice to meet you Nash, and tell Ryan to stop calling me,” Jackman joked.

Reynolds said bye to Nash as the fan was heading to treatment for the day. Later that day, Reynolds thanked hospital staff in a social media post, saying he wishes every kid could get treatment at MGH.

“And I wish every parent with a sick kid could put their kid in hands this capable,” Reynolds said in the post. “Nash, you’re the best. Love you, pal.”
