Three members of a foster family in Perris have pleaded guilty to abusing the children in their care, including several Turpin children, who were placed in their care after previously being abused by their parents.

Marcelino Olguin pleaded guilty on Thursday to nine counts against him, as reported by the Press-Enterprise:

  • Four counts of lewd acts on a child 14 or 15 years old when the defendant is at least 10 years older
  • Three counts of lewd acts on a child younger than 14
  • One count of false imprisonment
  • One count of injuring a child

In addition, Olguin’s wife, Rosa, and their daughter, Lennys, also entered guilty pleas to three counts of willful child cruelty, one count of false imprisonment and one count of intimidating a witness, the report said, adding that Rosa also pleaded guilty to grand theft.

The Olguins’ misconduct was directed at a group of children that included several Turpins, who had been freed from nightmare conditions created by their parents after one of their siblings escaped and called police. The Turpin parents were sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

The Olguins’ sentences are likely to be far less.

When they’re scheduled on Oct. 18, Marcelino will be sentenced to seven years in state prison and will have to register as a sex offender.

Rosa and Lennys will receive four-year suspended sentences and be placed on probation for four years.

Lennys Olguin will also serve 150 days in the sheriff’s work-release program, while Rosa will serve 120 days, a Riverside County District Attorney’s Office told the Press-Enterprise.
