Boston Bruins No. 1 goalie Jeremy Swayman will not be on the ice for the start of training camp until he has a contract.

General manager Don Sweeney said Wednesday that he’s disappointed that he hasn’t worked out a deal with the restricted free agent, but he’s confident that the team will sign him before Dec. 1, the deadline for Swayman to be able to play this season.

Swayman split time pretty evenly with Linus Ullmark during the regular season last year. But he took control in the playoffs, playing in 12 games to only 2 for Ullmark. Boston thought enough of Swayman that they traded Ullmark to the Senators this offseason.

The 25-year-old has a 2.34 goals against average and .919 save percentage in four seasons.
