Mike Tyson might be 56 years old, but he still plans to enter the ring against professional boxer and YouTube personality Jake Paul. Tyson and Paul were set to face off against one another on July 20, but Tyson suffered a medical scare while on a flight that led to the bout being postponed to Nov. 15.

Tyson was aboard a flight from Las Vegas to Los Angeles when he suffered what was deemed an “ulcer flare-up.” The trouble started around 20 minutes left on the flight. As soon as the plane landed, Tyson was attended to by paramedics.

The result of the flare-up led to Tyson not being able to train due to doctors’ orders, so the fight between him and Paul was pushed to Nov. 15. Paul would still fight on July 20, dispatching former UFC and current BKFC fighter Mike Perry.

Now, Tyson has revealed a concerning update regarding his training.

Tyson spoke to Josh Peter of USA Today when he revealed his training has led to his not being able to walk properly.

“It’s hard to walk right now,” said Tyson, who mentioned he’s training between three and four times a day. “But two months from now I’m going to be perfect.”

Apparently, Tyson has been training so hard that it’s messed up his ability to walk correctly. That is some dedication, but it is also a bit concerning.

The former heavyweight champion phenom is older and recently suffered the aforementioned ulcer flare-up medical scare. Despite that being a bit over two months ago, age is something that comes for everyone. Tyson might be hitting the gym a bit hard to prepare for the fight, and could find himself in a tough situation if his body is to give out.

That is not to say that Tyson is not in shape. The training videos the famed boxer shared before his medical scare showcased a lightning-fast punch and movement. Tyson looked the same way when he took on Roy Jones Jr. in 2020.

The result of the exhibition between the former champions led to a draw, but Tyson looked like he was delivering far more punches to his opponent. Either way, Tyson looked and moved incredibly.

Four years later, he appears to still have that same speed. He will certainly need it when he takes on Paul. Paul is coming off the win against Perry and currently holds a professional record of 10-1. His only loss came against Tommy Fury in Feb. 2023.

Paul has knocked out seven of his 11 opponents and is likely hoping to do the same to Tyson. Time will tell if Tyson will fall victim to the dangerous left hook from the “Problem Child.”
