A Brookline High School student was assaulted while walking between school buildings on Monday, school officials and Brookline police said in a statement.

The student was walking between Brookline Public Schools buildings on Tappan Street around 1 p.m. when a man inappropriately touched her, the statement said. She notified school officials, who contacted Brookline police, authorities said.

“We ask students to be mindful of their surroundings as they move about our campus,” Brookline Public Schools Superintendent Linus Guillory said. “While BHS is a safe campus, our high school complex consists of multiple buildings and students move about on public streets. Students, staff and all community members are urged to remain aware of their surroundings at all times and report any suspicious activity to any school staff member.”

Guillory said administrators are planning to boost supervision as students travel between classes. Brookline police are investigating the incident and have not identified a suspect yet, according to the statement.
