CHICAGO — The Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday night’s drawing is at $800 million, the seventh-largest in Mega Millions history.

But someone in Illinois is celebrating a nice Mega Millions prize of their own after purchasing a winning ticket of $1 million on Chicago’s South Side over the weekend.

The winning Mega Millions ticket was purchased at Gas Express in the Bridgeport neighborhood, located at 501 West 31st Street, the Illinois Lottery announced in a news release. The winner matched all five numbers, 6-23-42-59-63, to win the $1 million prize in Friday night’s drawing.

For selling the winning ticket, the retailer receives a bonus prize of $10,000, which is 1% of the prize amount.

Faris Saleh, the owner of Gas Express in Bridgeport, said this is the second big winning ticket sold at the store this year. The other was a $400,000 Lucky Day Lotto ticket in April.

“I guess you can say luck is in the air at Gas Express in Bridgeport!” Saleh exclaimed in the release.

Additionally, according to the release, this is the seventh Illinois Lottery player to win a Mega Millions prize of $1 million or more this year. Winners have one year from the date of the winning draw to claim their prize.

“My employees and I are hoping that the winner is someone we know, a regular customer,” Saleh said in the release. “No matter the outcome, I plan to use some of the bonus to celebrate with my employees and use the rest to upgrade my gas station.”
