Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is blasting Donald Trump as “sick” for joking about the brutal attack her husband endured during a 2022 home invasion.

On this morning’s episode of The View, Whoopi Goldberg kicked off the panel’s interview with Nancy by asking how her husband Paul Pelosi is doing now, nearly two years after facing an attack in their San Fransisco home.

In October 2022, a Canadian far-right conspiracy theorist broke into the Pelosi home and beat Paul with a hammer, leaving him with a fractured skull. “He’s doing OK. He’s coming along — a little more time. Getting hit on the head three times is a horrible thing,” Nancy said.

Nancy noted that “violence has no place” in this country, before calling out Trump for his brazen reaction to the ordeal. Not only did the former president stoke baseless conspiracies claiming there was no actual break-in, but he also alleged that the Pelosi home is surrounded by a wall (much like the one he planned to build at the border).

“What was sad though was that it was horrible when it happened. It was horrible. We didn’t even know if he was alive when we first heard about the attack,” Nancy said. “But before you could even say anything, your friend who shall remain nameless [Trump] — he was on there making a joke of it. And people were laughing. And his family was making a joke. A Republican governor was making jokes.”

She added, “And that’s just horrible. It’s sick. It’s truly sick.”

Nancy also debunked Trump’s accusations that she has a wall built around her house.

“We don’t have a wall around our house,” she said. “He’s always projecting. He probably has a wall around his house. We don’t have one around our house.”

Ana Navarro concluded the conversation by telling the politician, “Any time Donald Trump attacks you or your family, you wear it as a badge of honor.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
