Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love exited the Packers vs. Philadelphia Eagles game on Friday with six seconds to go in the fourth quarter after suffering an apparent lower leg injury.

Love’s lower leg was rolled up on by an Eagles defender, and he was down on the field for a few minutes before walking off with a noticeable limp. Here’s a video of the play:

Packers backup quarterback Malik Willis replaced him for the final two plays of the game, an eventual 34-29 Eagles win. He threw one incomplete pass and was sacked to officially end the game.

Love has emerged as one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL. After his breakout 2023 season, in which he threw for 4,159 yards with 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, he received a massive contract extension this offseason for four years and $220 million. His Wild Card performance against the Dallas Cowboys in which he completed 16 of 21 passes for 272 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions definitely showed the Packers everything they needed to see.

On Friday night in Brazil, Love looked great again. In the Packers’ narrow loss, he did everything he could, throwing for 260 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. On the play he got hurt, he was trying to keep the Packers alive, as a sack would have ended the game. Love was able to somehow avoid the sack and find running back Josh Jacobs on a lateral type pass. Unfortunately, Love was in an awkward position, and got the worst of it.

The Eagles ended up getting the 34-29 win, but all focus for Green Bay immediately shifted to their franchise quarterback.

The Packers initially drafted Love with the 26th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The pick received tons of backlash as Aaron Rodgers was the quarterback in Green Bay at the time, and the team could have used that pick to aid another playoff push.

Instead, the Packers went with Love, who didn’t start showing signs of a franchise quarterback until last year. However, he learned behind Rodgers for a couple seasons, and officially burst onto the scene in 2023, leading the Packers to a surprise postseason berth and upset win over the Cowboys.

The Packers will hope the injury didn’t look as bad as it did on the field. Their next matchup is with the Indianapolis Colts back in Green Bay on Sunday, Sept. 15.
