An unidentified male victim was fatally wounded inside a vehicle Saturday morning on the South Side in the South Chicago neighborhood, Chicago police said.

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., the victim was inside a stationary vehicle in the 2900 block of East 89th Street when someone approached on foot and shot in his direction, police said.

The victim suffered a wound to the chest, and was taken to UChicago Medicine where he was pronounced dead. His exact age was not immediately available.

No one was in custody, and detectives were investigating.
