CHICAGO — A woman is dead after a drive-by shooting where a CCL holder returned fire on the shooter, according to the Chicago Police Department.

CPD said a 49-year-old woman was on the porch of a residence in the 11800 block of South Indiana Avenue in the city’s West Pullman neighborhood around 9:30 p.m. Friday, when a male opened fire while driving a dark colored SUV.

A 38-year-old man, who police said is a CCL holder and was also on the porch, returned fire before the male in the SUV fled the scene.

The 49-year-old woman was shot in the face and arm, leading to Chicago firefighters to take her in critical condition to Roseland Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The 38-year-old CCL holder was not injured in the exchange of gunfire.

According to CPD, they recovered a handgun, but have no suspects in custody.
