CHICAGO — One person was shot and injured after someone opened fire at a South Loop diner where Democratic National Convention delegates were eating.

The shooting happened just before 3 a.m. Friday at the White Palace Grill, located at 1159 South Canal Street.

Police said a 42-year-old man was inside the diner and as he was walking out, another man fired gunshots. The victim was shot multiple times and the offender fled the scene.

The 42-year-old was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and is listed in fair condition.

No one is in custody. Area Three Detectives are investigating.
