CHICAGO — Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker spent years laying the groundwork for a possible run for president. And when Joe Biden abandoned his re-election bid last month, Pritzker had a brief moment to launch a White House bid.

But in a matter of hours, Kamala Harris locked up the support needed to lead the top of the ticket.

Then came veepstakes. Pritzker made the list for possible running mate, with Harris ultimately choosing Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

So what’s next for Pritzker, who is in the middle of his second term? He’s hinted he may run for a third term, joking he doesn’t want anybody talking to his wife about it because she is his term limit.

Illinois Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton on Tuesday morning hinted she’s game.

“I’m always supportive of a third term. He’s a great governor, why wouldn’t I be?” she said.

At an event near the United Center earlier today, Gov. Pritzker was asked if he would consider for running for president down the line. He said that’s not something he’s been thinking about.
