A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in Long Beach earlier this month has died, and police are looking for the driver who fled the scene.

Anthony Tapia, a 48-year-old person experiencing homelessness who was struck at East 7th Street and St. Louis Avenue on Aug. 3, died at a local hospital on Thursday, the Long Beach Police Department said in a news release.

Tapia, who was not in a marked crosswalk, was hit by a dark-colored SUV that fled and did not return, police said.

Anyone with information about the vehicle or driver is asked to call Detectives David Dougherty or Efrain Pineda at 562-570-7355.
