A teen who said she became a millionaire at 10 has revealed what her reality is like now — and it’s not what you think.
Isabella Barrett, now 17, was thrust into the spotlight at age five when her parents entered her into the show Toddlers and Tiaras.
The teen millionaire
After that, she competed in beauty pageants across the US and became a model in her teens for brands such as Toys ‘R’ Us and Bergdorf Goodman.
At just nine-years-old, Isabella launched a jewelry brand, Glitzy Girl, which turned her into one of the youngest self-made millionaires in the US.
Now, nearing 18, she’s capitalized on this success by launching her own clothing line and continuing her work as a model.
“What I love about being a millionaire is that I’m able to get up and travel anywhere I want in the world — and [the] friends I get to meet,” the teen, who recently bought a Lamborghini, said, as per The Sun.
She added that it has “opened many opportunities for me.”
The price of fame
But Isabella said that her life isn’t as great as it might seem on the outside.
After she started dating famous YouTuber Gavin Magnus, who has over seven million followers, she said that her profile had been boosted online.
And with this high visibility comes higher scrutiny, she says.
“Keeping things private when you’re constantly in the spotlight is tricky,” she told The US Sun.
“Public relationships like Justin and Selena’s or the Kardashians’ can get complicated.
“You have to navigate everyone having an opinion about your personal life.”
“But being with Gavin means having someone who truly understands the pressures, the challenges, and everything else that comes with living life under intense public scrutiny.”
She says some of these struggles include not being able to make and keep friends who aren’t constantly jealous of her and having a mum who puts added pressure on her for her relationship to work out.
