This sumptuous lodge sits high above a resort village — but is dwarfed by a legendary mountain.
Some 325 feet above the town of Cervinia, Italy, and in full view of the Matterhorn, a chalet known as La Fenice has been listed by Savills for $26.29 million, making it the highest-priced property the Italian Alps has ever seen, according to Mansion Global.
(Notably, this is only true on the Italian side of the border-straddling mountain range; the nearby Swiss Alps is home to pricier pads.)
“The most expensive chalet to come to the open market in the Italian Alps, Chalet La Fenice, which means the phoenix in Italian, is one of the finest chalets I have ever seen,” Jeremy Rollason, who represents the listing and is head of Savills Ski, told The Post. “With dramatic views of the Matterhorn and unsurpassed spa and recreational facilities, the chalet provides everything one might need in their alpine home.”
The compound dates back to 1936 and has been known for its dramatic placement beneath the pyramid-shaped peak since construction.
“In its day, the chalet was known for its fabulous views of the Matterhorn and environs, its surrounding botanical gardens and was reputedly regularly visited by the Italian royal family,” per the listing, adding that the residence recently underwent an extensive, five-year reconstruction — but has retained its original stone-built building.
The current listing represents the first time the property is hitting the market since the renovation.
Highlights of the refurbished six-story space include lift access, various paneled reception rooms, myriad fireplaces and seven bedrooms, each one equipped with ensuite bathrooms and others boasting private balconies.
There are numerous amenities including a ski room, a wine cellar and a gym, as well as a variety of wellness offerings — among them an indoor pool, a hammam spa and multiple treatment rooms.
Perhaps most spectacularly, there is an outdoor Jacuzzi with stunning views of the Matterhorn.
