See inside an ‘abandoned artist mansion’ left to rot in rural France

In rural France, a stunning property has inexplicably been left for dead.

A 21-year-old urban explorer recently went viral for an eerie house tour of the home left in a sorry state of decay.

“I stumbled upon this amazing, abandoned artist mansion quite unexpectedly on the road to another place,” the explorer, Yannick, explained of how he came upon the abode, according to Jam Press.

Yannick — a prolific wanderer of decaying structures — parked his car, made his way through the overgrown garden and went inside, only to be floored by the enormous rooms, their walls and ceilings adorned with “countless paintings,” as well as badly peeling paint.

“Stepping inside the mansion felt like entering a different world,” said Yannick, a self-described Germany-based “abandoned world explorer.”

Despite no one being home, the estate was also uncannily unempty: Cushioned couches, tables, chairs, a piano and a diary, among other personal items, were still as they likely were before the space was forsaken.

The business and economics student, who uses the handle UrbexGuide to document his adventures on TikTok, decided to look into the history of the place and learned that the mansion had been abandoned since 2004.

“It used to belong to a renowned artist who had a penchant for grandeur,” he said, adding that “I’m very sure the people that lived there didn’t have the financial opportunities to renovate the mansion, because some parts of the home [were] halfway through renovation works.”

The home is far from the only manor Yannick has explored, although it does stand out for its size and grandeur.

Yannick’s explorations routinely rack up tens of thousands of views on the social media platform, with one clip touring an abandoned Swedish mansion commanding over 110,000.

An abandoned castle in Italy also ranked among his followers recent favorites, boasting over 47,000 views.
