Biden pulls in $25M at star-studded NYC fundraiser

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign got a big boost Thursday night at New York City’s iconic Radio City Music Hall with former presidents Obama and Clinton among the high-powered guests.

The Biden campaign says it raised over $25 million at the event.  Former president Donald Trump was also in New York but for a very different reason.

The star-studded event comes as he is either tied or lags behind Trump in the polls.

“I think there are a lot of Democrats who was to see President Obama involved,” said Johanna Maska, former Obama staffer.

Former Obama staffer Johanna Maska says her old boss is ready to do some serious campaigning for Biden to help draw in more voters.

Trump was in New York too for the wake of New York City police officer Jonathan Diller, who was killed during a traffic stop.

“What happened is such a sad, sad event. It’s such a horrible thing. And it’s happening all too often,” said Trump.

Peter Loge with George Washington University says Trump is finding other ways to connect with his supporters.

“Reminding people, they’re afraid of crime and he’s the one standing with cops,” said Loge.

The White House says President Biden spoke to New York City’s mayor and gave his condolences on the death of the officer.
