Police searching for suspect of 2 hit-and-run crashes

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin Police Department detectives are looking for a suspect connected to two hit-and-run crashes that left at least one other person with serious injuries.

Officers responded to reports of a crash in the 8400 block of North Interstate-Highway 35 Southbound around 1:46 a.m. on March 18.

The investigation revealed a suspect vehicle crashed into the back of a sedan while driving in the 100 block of N. IH 35 Southbound. APD said the victim of that incident followed the suspect vehicle, which eventually also crashed into the rear of a motorcycle in the 8400 block of the highway.

The suspect vehicle did not stop and left the scene at a high speed, according to APD.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect vehicle was described as a two-door, unknown model Infiniti that’s black in color and has specialty Texas license plates with a star on the left side.

Police said the suspect driver was described as a young Hispanic man.
