Affordably priced mountain resort community in Granby

US

This holiday weekend in Granby, Sun Outdoors Communities has two rare resale homes on view that could have you enjoying scenic Grand County for the rest of the summer.

Both of those homes are Sun Outdoors’ ‘Lookout Lodge’ plans—roomy single-family designs that have a separate, detached guest flat alongside where your kids or grandkids can spend the weekend, while you and the family are enjoying Sun Outdoors’ resort pool, taverns, coffee bar, hot tubs, bowling alley, playground and other mountain amenities.

That’s in addition to the outdoor attractions that are minutes from this Granby location, including Rocky Mountain National Park, boating on Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain Reservoir, and endless trails into the National Forest. The community has a trout lake on site and a fly fishing lease on the Colorado River, just steps from either home.

All of that made Sun’s ‘Resort Villas’ homes here a rapid sellout after they were introduced in 2019. Sales manager Janelle Yeagley says resales are a rarity in Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountains—particularly ones that offer the guest suite that these two have.

Each of those is priced at just $380,000—complete with their mountain contemporary furnishing package. She’ll show you each home, then get you in to see the pool and other amenities—even let you enjoy Saturday night’s live music by Grand County band On 40—a regular weekly attraction in Outdoors’ popular community bar.

The social life nurtured by the bar, taverns and other amenities is as big an attraction as the scenery, according to Jamie Metzger, who bought one of the first homes here in 2019.

“I absolutely love everything about it,” says Metzger. “The staff is great, the bar and restaurant are right there, and there is so much to do on site.” With a home in Scottsdale, Ariz., Metzger spends the entire summer here now, having his daughter and son-in-law up to visit.

Yeagley notes that some homeowners use these as a ski retreat. Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountains is just 20 minutes from the slopes in Winter Park, 90 minutes from Steamboat, and five minutes from Granby Ranch.

The Colorado scenery attracts out-of-staters like Metzger, but also Denver residents who use this as a weekend getaway for themselves and their kids/grandkids.

“We’ve had lots of buyers from Highlands Ranch, Denver and Jefferson County,” says Yeagley. Drive time to the community from Denver is just one hour 40 minutes.

Those two homes are on view all weekend including Memorial Day (You can call for an appointment to lock in a showing time).

Need a mountain accommodation tonight? Ask Yeagley for a discount overnight stay at Sun Outdoors. She can also tell you about annual rates for RV spaces in the resort and for RV storage.

Take I-70 west from Idaho Springs to U.S 40, then continue west past Winter Park, another 21 miles to Granby and U.S. 34. Turn right on U.S. 34 to the entryway.
