Authorities are investigating a blaze at a Marlborough home on Wednesday morning that claimed the life of one resident and displaced another.

Firefighters responded to 9-1-1 calls around 8:23 a.m. reporting a fire at 66 Nolan Way, according to the state’s Department of Fire Services. At the scene, they found the single-family home “well involved” in the blaze, with flames venting out a back corner of the house.

Firefighters got the fire under control in about 30 minutes. They found one person deceased inside the home, and another resident was displaced, according to officials.

The cause and manner of the resident’s death will be determined by the state’s medical examiner, fire officials said.

“On behalf of the Marlborough Fire Department, I want to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family that lost a loved one this morning,” Marlborough Fire Chief Kevin J. Breen said in a statement.

How and where the fire started remains under investigation, but authorities said investigators so far believe the blaze started in the living room on the first floor.
