Chicago attraction keeps its title as ‘Best Place’ for fireworks

CHICAGO — A Chicago attraction has been named the ‘Best Place to See Fireworks’ for the second consecutive year.

USA Today’s 2024 10Best Readers’ Choice Travel Awards ranked the top 10 destinations where locals and tourists can see fireworks this summer and Chicago’s Navy Pier was crowned the winner. Described as “one of Chicago’s secret pleasures,” a panel of travel experts praised Navy Pier for its display show, which can be seen from “charter boats on Lake Michigan, hotel rooftops, Maggie Daley Park, or along Chicago’s Lakefront Trail.”

The honor comes days before summer fireworks at Navy Pier returns for Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Firework shows occur every Wednesday at 9 p.m. and Saturday at 10 p.m.

“We are incredibly honored to have Navy Pier voted as the ‘Best Place to See Fireworks’ in the nation for another year,” said Navy Pier President and CEO Marilynn Gardner. “This recognition is a testament to the joy and wonder our Summer Fireworks bring to both locals and visitors from around the world. We look forward to continuing to light up the sky and create unforgettable memories for all who visit Navy Pier.”

Other Midwest entries include Ford Fireworks in Detroit, Michigan, which finished second overall. Firework displays at Minneapolis Aquatennial in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Fair Saint Louis in St. Louis, Missouri finished fourth and ninth, respectively.

  • No. 1: Navy Pier – Chicago, Illinois
  • No. 2: Ford Fireworks – Detroit, Michigan
  • No. 3: Concert in the Sky at the Amelia Earhart Festival – Atchison, Kansas
  • No. 4: Minneapolis Aquatennial – Minneapolis, Minnesota
  • No. 5: Addison Kaboom Town! – Addison, Texas
  • No. 6: Wawa Welcome America – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • No. 7: Let Freedom Sing! – Nashville, Tennessee
  • No. 8: Big Bay Boom – San Diego, California
  • No. 9: Fair Saint Louis – St. Louis, Missouri
  • No. 10: America’s Freedom Festival at Provo – Provo, Utah

Results were announced on Wednesday.
