Authorities are investigating after a car went off the road in Milton on Tuesday, striking beehives and trees before coming to a stop, WCVB reports.

According to the station, the SUV went off the road near 630 Brush Hill Road around 1:30 p.m., striking the beehives. The car came to a rest on its side against a vehicle parked in the nearby driveway.

The disruption of the bees was a hurdle for first responders arriving at the scene, according to WCVB.

“We were lucky that the back of the vehicle opened up and we were able to extricate the two people out of the car,” Milton Fire Deputy Mitchell Sumner told WCVB.
