GLENVIEW, Ill. — A 17-year-old boy was killed and three other people were hospitalized, Glenview police say, following a deadly crash late Sunday night in the north suburb.

Police say the crash occurred around 11 p.m. on the 1200 block of East Lake Avenue. A Ford Mustang with heavy damage and another vehicle split in half could be observed at the crash scene.

The Cook County Coroner’s Office identified the person who died as Marko Niketic, 17, of Glenview.

A heavy police presence remained at the scene early Monday morning. Police still had a portion of East Lake Avenue at the intersection of Meadow Lane blocked off as they investigate the deadly crash.

A witness says a driver flew past him at a high rate of speed and turned their lights off before colliding with another vehicle.

“He was probably going about 90 (miles per hour) whenever he sped in front of me,” the witness said. “If I had to guess, he floored it and turned off his lights.

“There was no reason for it. I don’t think it was like road rage or anything. I think he just wanted to go fast and (was) being reckless.”

WGN News is still working to determine the conditions and identifications of the others involved in the crash.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
