Shayanna Jenkins said that she found it “sad” that her 11-year-old daughter would have to hear jokes about her father’s suicide because of Netflix’s Tom Brady roast.

Gisele Bundchen isn’t the only person who had a problem with jokes made at Netflix’s Tom Brady roast: Shayanna Jenkins, formerly engaged to the late Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, told TMZ she found the jokes about Hernandez’s suicide “sad.”

“It’s sad that I’m trying to raise my children in such a cruel world,” Jenkins told TMZ, adding that her 11-year-old daughter, Avielle, shouldn’t have to see jokes about her father killing himself in prison.

Hernandez, who played on the Patriots alongside Brady and fellow roasters Julian Edelman and Rob Gronkowski from 2010 to 2012, was convicted in 2015 of killing semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd. Days after he was found not guilty in a separate double homicide, Hernandez, 27, killed himself in his prison cell.

In keeping with the gallows humor often present at comedy roasts, numerous roasters made jokes about Hernandez during Netflix’s Brady roast.

“RoastMaster General” Jeff Ross took the stage wearing an O.J. Simpson jersey flanked by women dressed as devils.

“I just came from Hell,” Ross said. “Aaron Hernandez says hello.”

Both Edelman and comedian Nikki Glaser made jokes about how Hernandez hung himself.

“Give it up for zero-time Super Bowl champion Randy Moss! Why don’t you have a ring? What the hell, man, you’re one of the best ever,” Glaser said. “Drew Bledsoe has a ring. Aaron Hernandez had a ring…around his neck.”

Even Brady got in on the fun, comparing Gronkowski to his fellow 2010 rookie tight end.

“The bar for a Patriots tight end was pretty low back then,” Brady said. “Block, catch, don’t murder.”
