Thousands of students at the University of Texas at Austin will cross the stage and earn graduate status at this weekend’s commencement ceremonies. With those celebrations comes plenty of proud family, friends and loved ones and — you guessed it — traffic.
Here’s a day-by-day breakdown of planned road closures and traffic changes amid this weekend’s pomp and circumstance.
For those driving to the ceremonies, the University of Texas at Austin Police Department and Austin Police Department will be on-site and staffed to assist with traffic control measures Thursday through Saturday. Those looking to park near the festivities can utilize all University garages — save for the Conference Center and Nueces Garage — for free from 5 a.m. Thursday until 11:59 p.m. May 11.
