The victim in the early morning Tuesday stabbing was identified as 20-year-old Robert Day on Wednesday.

The victim of a fatal stabbing outside of a Leominster apartment complex Tuesday was described as “vibrant” and a star football player in high school, his family said.

The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office identified the victim Wednesday afternoon as 20-year-old Robert Day of Leominster. Day was fatally stabbed outside of the Riverside Village Apartment complex on State Street just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday.

Day later died at a local hospital, and no arrests had been made as of Wednesday afternoon.

In a GoFundMe set up by Cammie Rivera for Day’s family, Day was described as “a vibrant 20-year-old young man just beginning his life” and “a friend to all.”

“No family should have to endure so much pain as a result of such an unexpected tragedy,” the GoFundMe reads. “Robert was a graduate of Leominster High School and known as a star football player while attending Athol High School.”

The GoFundMe, which is raising money for funeral expenses, had raised over $10,000 as of Wednesday night.

Detectives with Leominster police and State Police are investigating the stabbing and asking for the public’s help in obtaining videos of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Leominster police at 978-534-7560.
