1 dead, 1 injured in accident Thursday on DuSable Lake Shore Drive – Chicago Tribune

A 25-year-old passenger of a vehicle was pronounced dead after an overnight crash on northbound DuSable Lakeshore Drive that also injured the driver, Chicago police said.

About 12:15 a.m., a vehicle was headed north in the 3100 block of DuSable Lake Shore Drive when the driver swerved to avoid striking another vehicle, police said.

The driver struck a curb then veered into a light pole before coming to a stop, police said. A passenger was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

He was identified as Jorge A. Castillo of DesPlaines, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The driver also was taken to the same hospital and listed in fair condition, police said.

The Major Accident Investigation Unit was investigating.
