Blazing early season heat likely across portions of Texas and Florida

Above normal temperatures to continue across the northern tier states while a modest sub-normal temperature regime is likely across the southern Plains and southeast U.S.

Past 12 months (May 2023 through April 2024) was the warmest on record for both the Contiguous U.S. and for Canada.
In Canda, a remarkable 62% of the country had the #1 ranked May-23-April 24 period temperature-wise.
