It was a stormy and unstable Tuesday in Chicagoland, with multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms — some severe — rolling through the area.
Chicagoland is cleaning up from the afternoon and evening storms, which brought strong winds, heavy rain and large hail. They caused flooding on South Side roads, as well as in Orland Park, where some cars were submerged in water.
Strong winds knocked trees down onto houses, yards and power lines, causing outages for residents on the South Side and in Northwest Indiana, which got hit especially hard. See the video below for more:
Fortunately, Wednesday looks to be much calmer and quieter, at least during the day, with plenty of sunshine.
Inland highs will reach the upper 70s, with low 80s possible in some areas to the southwest. However, it’ll be closer to 70 along the lakefront.
Some wet weather could then return later, with a few thunderstorms possible Wednesday evening before showers and storms become likely overnight. Temperatures will fall into the low 50s as a cooldown arrives.
Thursday will be mostly cloudy and breezy, with showers likely and highs only reaching the low to mid-50s. But it should bounce back into the 60s for Mother’s Day weekend, with things also looking dry, before the 70s return early next week.
