Prince Harry’s Met Gala Double Has Fans Stunned

Fashion’s biggest night out attracted style and showbiz royalty to New York on Monday for the annual Met Gala, with eagle eyed social media fans noting that one attendee bore a striking resemblance to one of the British monarchy’s most controversial figures.

Though Prince Harry may not have been on the exclusive event’s guestlist, which is curated by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, it appears that his doppelgänger was.

Stunned fans took to social media platforms to post images and video clips of the unnamed carpet attendant who helped guests climb the event’s famous steps, arranging the trains of their outfits for the banks of photographers.

“Anyone else keep thinking this is Prince Harry?” wrote one X (formerly Twitter) user of a clip showing the attendant arranging Queen Latifah’s gown while she posed alongside her partner, choreographer Eboni Nichols.

“I honestly thought for a split second that Prince Harry had got himself a new job holding peoples dresses at the Met Gala,” posted another, with a further user adding: “Aw they got Prince Harry working the met gala good for him.”

The redheaded attendant also caught the eye of TikTok users, with one stunned account posting footage of him helping South African singer Tyla, captioned: “Prince Harry is working at the MET gala now that he left the royal family??”

The post has been viewed over 47,000 times on the social media site so far.

Newsweek approached representatives of Prince Harry via email for comment.

The real Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, were not in attendance at the high profile event on Monday night, which raises money for the Anna Wintour Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Since their split from the monarchy in 2020, there have been persistent rumors that the couple would one day grace the Met steps for the event, coming as Wintour named Meghan as one of her dream guests (alongside sister-in-law Princess Kate) during an interview back in 2019.

Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, is one of only two British royals to have attended the Met Gala so far.

Diana made her gala debut in 1996 for the event held to mark the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the work of the fashion designer Christian Dior. For the event, the newly divorced princess wore a daring lingerie inspired gown designed by John Galliano, the new creative director of the house of Dior.

Harry’s cousin, Princess Beatrice of York, is the second royal to have attended the gala. The eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson, the Duchess of York, attended in 2018 where she wore a purple gown designed by Alberta Ferretti.
