Officer injured in crash while impounding vehicle in Los Angeles

A Los Angeles police officer was hospitalized after a patrol vehicle was struck by a car in Echo Park Monday night.

The collision was reported around 11:30 p.m. as the officer was in the process of impounding another vehicle near Stadium Way and Lilac Terrace.

It was unclear why the car ran into the patrol vehicle.

Video shows an officer being treated in an ambulance and then transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

The video also shows a person being detained at the scene but it was unclear if it was the person who ran into the officer’s vehicle or someone from the initial stop.

There was also no immediate word on why the impounded vehicle had been stopped.
