Katy Perry’s mom fell for an AI-generated photo of her daughter at the 2024 Met Gala, which Katy shared on her Instagram.

“Didn’t know you went to the Met,” Mary Perry texted the “Teenage Dream” singer. “What a gorgeous gown, you look like the Rose parade, you are your own float lol.”

In a photo posted via X (formerly known as Twitter), Katy Perry is shown on the red carpet at the 2024 Met Gala, wearing a dress fitting the theme “The Garden of Time”. However, the image was entirely AI-generated, as Katy did not actually attend the event. Its striking realism led Katy’s mother to believe she was there in person.

“Lol mom the AI got you too, BEWARE!,” the American Idol judge responded to the text. She posted a screenshot of their conversation via Instagram with the caption, “Couldn’t make it to the MET, had to work.”

The amusing incident sparked a flurry of reactions from users in the comments section of the post, drawing attention from some notable accounts. iHeartRadio quipped, “kAIty perry ate tho,” while MTV exclaimed, “i actually jumped.”

Due to her cryptic remark stating that she couldn’t attend the Met Gala because she was “working,” numerous fans speculated that she might be working on a new album.

“OMG U WERE AT THE STUDIO?????,” an exciting fan wrote. Another said, “We’re starving for new music mother.”

Nearly four years have passed since Katy last graced fans with new music, which was the release of her sixth studio album, Smile. While she has remained relatively tight-lipped about her upcoming album, she offered a glimpse of what’s in store. “I just have yet to make a record from a place of feeling really happy and whole and full of love,” she told Access Hollywood in April.

She is a mom to a 3-year-old daughter Daisy Dove Bloom with fiancé Orlando Bloom.
