The video crew at TD Garden just couldn’t resist.

The Bruins once again put an end to the Maple Leafs’ season in dramatic fashion on Saturday night, with David Pastrnak’s overtime goal securing Boston’s seventh straight postseason series over its Original Six foe.

Toronto hasn’t defeated Boston in a playoff series since 1959, with the Maple Leafs holding third-period leads in three of their four Game 7 losses at TD Garden since 2013.

But as if Maple Leafs fans weren’t already miserable enough after Pastrnak tucked a backhand shot past Ilya Samsonov, the TD Garden jumbotron twisted the knife by broadcasting footage from Toronto.

As the Bruins and Maple Leafs took part in the customary handshake line after a hard-fought series, the video board at TD Garden cut to a dejected Toronto fan base exiting Maple Leafs Square near Scotiabank Arena.

Maple Leafs Square has served as a gathering area for Toronto fans over the years, and has often been the epicenter of some of the most pained (and viral) reaction shots of a fanbase that has routinely been tormented in the postseason — especially at the hands of the Bruins.

As noted in The Boston Globe’s “Garden Party” daily newsletter: “The Maple Leafs last won the Stanley Cup 20,823 days ago. They did so in the same year Carl Yastrzemski won the Triple Crown and the Green Bay Packers beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl I.”

There’s always next year, I suppose.
