Patrice Bergeron helped orchestrate the Bruins’ comeback win over the Maple Leafs in the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
With the Bruins facing the Maple Leafs in yet another decisive Game 7 at TD Garden, Boston turned to a familiar face and hockey legend to spark an already raucous crowd on Causeway Street.
Just ahead of puck drop between the Bruins and Leafs, former Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron served as the team’s fan banner captain — with the Garden crowd erupting as soon as he was showcased on the Garden videoboard.
You can watch the TD Garden crowd’s reaction below:
Of course, it should come as no surprise why Bergeron earned the nod for fan-banner captain duties for Game 7 — especially against Toronto.
It was Bergeron who sparked one of the most memorable triumphs in Bruins history — scoring both the tying goal and OT winner in Boston’s comeback win over the Maple Leafs in Game 7 of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
The Bruins are hoping that Bergeron’s presence will give them good luck as they try to eliminate the Leafs and avoid yet another 3-1 series collapse.
