19-year-old man charged in Joliet crash that killed 2

JOLIET, Ill. — A Crest Hill man has been arrested and charged in connection with a crash in Joliet that killed two people, according to police.

The crash happened in the early morning hours of Feb. 18 near Black Road and 129th Infantry Drive.

According to police, Jacoby Hamilton, 19, ran a red light and crashed into a car, killing the driver, Walter Kretzler, 65, of Joliet, and the passenger, Roxane Holt, 59, of Joliet.

On Friday, Joliet Police Department officers arrested Hamilton at his home in Crest Hill, police said. He was charged with four counts of reckless homicide.

“My thoughts are first and foremost with those who have lost loved ones in this devastating
and senseless crash,” Joliet Police Department Chief Bill Evans said in a news release. “I commend the diligent work of our officers and detectives who responded to the scene and conducted the follow-up investigation leading to this arrest. A tragedy such as this only reaffirms our commitment to roadway safety, which will always remain a priority for the Joliet Police Department.”
