Rain expected Thursday with chance of thunderstorms in area – Chicago Tribune

National Weather Service officials are expecting showers Thursday with a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon  and temperatures in the high 60s.

Current morning temperatures registered at 59 degrees at Midway Airport with mostly cloudy conditions. Farther north at O’Hare International Airport conditions are the same at 64 degrees, officials said.

Thursday’s highs are expected to reach about 70 degrees with southeast winds between 10 to 15 mph, and gusts up to 20 mph.

Wet conditions are expected throughout Thursday into the evening hours with a possible thunderstorm developing around 8 p.m., officials said.

Friday, showers and thunderstorms are expected before 10 a.m. with mostly cloudy conditions and a temperature drop to the low 50s by 5 p.m., officials said.

There is a 60 percent chance of showers Friday, and the chance decreases going into Saturday to 20 percent with a high in the mid 60s, officials said.

Sunday, officials expect sunny conditions with a high temperature of 60 degrees.
