Boston police identify man killed in Mattapan shooting

Boston police on Tuesday released the name of the man who was fatally shot over the weekend in Mattapan.

Officers responded to the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Fremont Street around 4:44 a.m. on Saturday for reports of a person shot, the department said. At the scene, they found a man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. The man, identified by police as 42-year-old George Deeble of Dorchester, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
