A 62-year-old Methuen woman was struck and killed Sunday night.

Police in Methuen are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver of a motorcycle allegedly involved in the fatal hit-and-run of a pedestrian on Sunday night.

Police said officers responded around 8:37 p.m. on Sunday to the report of a person found lying in the road in the area of 471 Lowell St. At the scene, police found the victim, a 62-year-old Methuen woman, face down on the side of the road. First responders administered first aid but, police said, the woman was  later pronounced dead at Lawrence General Hospital.

Police said Monday that, as part of the investigation into the crash, the department obtained video surveillance of the area that captured a speeding motorcycle striking the victim.

“The motorcycle operator then slowed down and stopped before continuing down the road,” police said.

Police said the vehicle they are searching for in connection with the crash is a Harley Davidson motorcycle, “possibly with a dark red and gray two-tone fender missing.” The department is asking anyone with information about the crash or the motorcycle to contact investigators at 978-983-8698.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
