Woman Shares Discontinued Makeup Products, and Millennials Will Understand

US

We’re fortunate to live in an age where every beauty product you could imagine is within reach, but as new innovations take over the beauty market, we’ve lost some great products that have fallen at the feet of new formulations, buzz-word ingredients and influencer shoutouts.

While our routines may have changed, many of us will still be mourning the death of a cult product long since discontinued, whether you’re still upset about the loss of Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse or on the hunt for a highlighter to replace Becca’s Champagne Pop despite the brand closing in 2021.

If you’re passionate that some products didn’t deserve to be taken off the production line, you’re not alone. In fact, Madi Hearts felt so passionate about the products she’d lost over the years that she took to TikTok (@madihearts) to share her opinion on the discontinued makeup she thinks deserves a comeback.

The video, which has gained over 780,000 views and 89,000 likes since being shared on March 10, sparked feelings of nostalgia for many beauty lovers reminiscing about products and techniques of the past, filling the comments section with memories of their favorite beauty formulations from previous years.

In the viral clip, Hearts went on to highlight three products that were staples in many millennials’ makeup bags, stating that the nostalgic products “need to make a comeback”—and we couldn’t agree more.

Three Discontinued Beauty Products to Bring Back

L’Oreal True Match Roller Foundation

For fans of Refy’s roll-on primer, you need to know that L’Oreal’s True Match Roller Foundation is the OG when it comes to roll-on base products.

The pressed cream formula was sold in a silver tin with an unconventional application tool that wouldn’t look out of place in a painter’s kit.

Marketed for its ability to provide an even, flawless finish, many, like Hearts, were intrigued by the unique applicator, as she admits, “The gimmick sucked me in. I had to have it, I did have it, and I just thought it was so cool.”

For those missing the formula more than the fun that came with applying this product, fear not, as the brand’s True Match liquid foundation is still available and proving as popular as ever.

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush

Arguably as iconic as its whipped foundation counterpart, Maybelline’s Dream Bouncy Blush was first released 10 shades to the beauty market in 2012.

The gel formulation promised a natural wash of color that could easily be built on, and melted into the skin before drying down to a powder finish.

Speaking on what first led her to purchase the product, Hearts explained, “Again I ate up this gimmick—I just wanted to touch it. So, I had to buy it.

“I remember them being kind of sheer but okay. I wasn’t a big cream blush person, but I loved the texture of this—they had about a dozen different shades.”

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter

Another iconic product that launched in 2011, Revlon’s ColorBurst Lip Butters provided five years of hydration hits and pigmented flushes of color in 20 shades before it was discontinued.

Showing her appreciation for the product, Hearts shared, “I loved these so much I had like 10. They were a nice light wash of color, really comfortable, lots of beautiful shades.

“I loved the packaging—everything about them! I was obsessed.”

The loss of this iconic product clearly hit Hearts hard, as she continued, “I’m still upset about it, I still miss these and I know I’m not the only one,” begging the brand, “Revlon please, you need to bring these back!”

What Do the Comments Say?

Hearts isn’t alone in her desire to bring back her favorite products from the beauty graveyards, as the comments section was full of users feeling nostalgic about the beauty products of years before.

Many agreed with Hearts’ selection, as one user said, “The dream bouncy blush was EVERYTHING to me, it’s all I ever used for years.”

“The bouncy blush and lip butters would be SO popular today,” added another.

“I have 4 Revlon Lip Butters holding on to dear life in my make up bag,” said a third user. “They will never meet the trashcan.”

A fourth shared, “You just unlocked a memory I had forgotten. The foundation roller!! I had lines all over me face I didn’t know blending.”
