Barmore’s four-year deal is reportedly worth up to $92 million.
Patriots defensive tackle Christian Barmore has agreed to a 4-year contract extension worth up to $ 92 million, according to Doug Kyed of The Boston Herald.
The 6-foot-5, 315-pound defensive lineman has improved steadily since being drafted by New England in the second round of the 2021 draft.
Barmore is coming off of a career year. He posted 64 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 6 passes defended, and a forced fumble while helping to anchor one of the NFL’s top run defenses.
The Patriots gave up a league-best 3.3 yards per carry last season and were top-five in rushing yards allowed (1,584).
Barmore’s breakout season showed the impact he can have in the middle. He played in all 17 games as a rookie, but it took a while for him to consistently impact games the way he did last year. His 2022 season was hampered by injuries which limited him to 10 games.
This season, Barmore played in every game and was a dominant presence at times, such as Christmas Eve when he posted three sacks in a win over the Broncos.
The Patriots have made a point this offseason to bring back players they drafted, such as Barmore. Kyle Dugger, Josh Uche, Mike Onwenu, and Anfernee Jennings are all former Patriots draft picks who signed new deals with the team.
