Mom’s Realistic Video Hailed an Antidote to Parenting Seen on Social Media

Babies are clumsy—one mom is saying this just can’t be helped.

A video posted to TikTok by Ffion (@_emmieandme) has gone viral for revealing a hilarious compilation of “mom fails” in which her 18-month-old continuously falls down.

Ffion spoke to Newsweek about her intention behind the video: to make relatable content for mothers. Since her video was posted, it has received over 618,000 views and over 50,000 likes.

“Here’s a collection of my mom fails to make you feel better if you’re having a hard mom day,” she captioned the video. “This is just a fraction. Enjoy.”

The video shows Ffion’s 18-month-old, Emmie, in a series of situations where she can’t help but fall over: being knocked down by her mom during a workout, head-planting after coming off of a slide and being knocked down by gentle ocean waves. Other clips show Ffion holding Emmie above ground by her onesie for a walk, and Emmie trying to eat a handful of fish food over a fish tank.

Ffion, 28, said she made the video to portray motherhood with levity.

“I wanted to make the video as moms tend to give themselves a really hard time for every little thing they do daily,” she said. “I just wanted to lightheartedly show that it’s OK and it happens to all of us.”

Viewers in the comments certainly appreciated Ffion’s sentiment. They laughed along with her, noting that it was refreshing to see mom content be so relatable.

“Finally…a video of real parenting,” @samanthalargent wrote.

“If it helps, I giggled a bit when she fell too, but you automatically went to help her up too, so you’re better than me,” @scotcrafting commented.

“Looks about the same as my week…decided to launch herself off our bed, then I caught her head taking her out of the car, then she walked into the door,” @blue_eyed23 wrote. “All fun.”

“The frantic grab at the end is so relatable,” @houseofmarnie said.

Ffion noticed the positive feedback herself, telling Newsweek, “I’ve had a lot of comments from moms saying it’s exactly what they needed to see!”

She added that she and her daughter have a very close relationship, not only because of their personalities and light-hearted relationship but also because Emmie came after a series of losses.

“My daughter is my little best friend,” Ffion said. “She is our double rainbow baby after two losses, and we just feel so incredibly lucky every single day that we have her.”
